I am Fr. Pius Mathew, from the diocese of Kanjirappally, Kerala State, India. State of Kerala is at the South West of India. I would like to be called Fr. Pius.
I was ordained a priest on 31st of December 1990. In my first three years as a priest, I served in two different parishes as an associate pastor. Then, I had the opportunity to serve as a pastor for eleven years, in three different parishes of the diocese. I served in a secular college, owned and managed by the diocese, for four years as the head of the extension programs and as the director of the male students who stayed in the campus. In addition to that I had the occasion to serve the various departments of the diocese. In the second half of 2007, my bishop asked me whether I am willing to serve any of the dioceses outside India where there is shortage of priests. I said "yes" to the bishop and that is why I am here, in United States, in the diocese of Austin, and in this parish.
With regards to my family - I have 3 sisters and 4 brothers, all living in the same State. I am the youngest one in my family. My father passed away 16 years ago. My mother is still living and she is 96, and considering her age, she is having fairly good health. My mom was really upset when I left her to United States. I am keeping in touch with her every alternative day through phone calls and Skype. She still cries when I talk to her, which makes me a little upset. My mom and I need your special prayers. It is only two years that I am here in United States. I was at St. Louis Parish, Waco as an associate pastor. Now I am here at your service. I request your valuable prayers and wholehearted support and prayers.
